HOLY COMMUNION IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
ALL BAPTIZED persons who believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist are invited and are quite welcome to receive Communion at the Lord's Altar.
If you have never received Communion in an Episcopal Church the following are some guidelines.  At the invitation to the Holy Communion, come to the Altar Rail and kneel or stand as you wish.  To receive the Bread, form a little "throne" with your hands, one in the other, to receive the Bread from the Priest.  You may bring it to your mouth to eat immediately or let it lie in your hands to be dipped in the Wine by the Chalice or Cup bearer, who will then carefully place it on your tongue.  When the Chalice or Cup Bearer comes to you at the Altar (if you have not chosen to have the Bearer dip the bread for you) please guide the Cup to your mouth by holding the foot of the Chalice and tip it slightly to receive some of the Wine.  You may wish to only receive the Bread.  If so, cross your arms over your chest to designate your desire to not receive the Wine.  If you do not desire to receive either the Bread or the Wine, but wish a blessing only, please come to the Altar Rail and cross your arms over your chest before the Priest comes to you.  The Priest will ask a Blessing upon you.
